The iPad

We all knew that Apple would eventually develop a product to compete with the Kindle. My first reaction to rumors of the Apple "tablet" was that it was an interesting yet unnecessary product, but now that I know it's for real, I can stop my reaction formation and admit that I think the iPad is not only revolutionary, but that it will also probably become as necessary to me as my laptop is today.

For years, computers have taken advantage of the desktop analogy, in which the windows are supposed to mimic papers on an actual desk. This interface has obviously been a huge success. But the iPad takes this idea further with a design that doesn't require any getting used to. Holding it will be like holding a(n) (i)pad of paper. It seems completely natural. The iBooks app even has a "Bookshelf" to store your books on.

I'm looking forward to the March/April release.

Features: Safari, Mail, Photos, Video, YouTube, iPod, iTunes, App Store, iBooks, Maps, Notes, Calendar, Contacts, Home Screen, Spotlight Search

Pricing: $499 - $829 (depending on 3G or just Wi-Fi with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB)

100% mark Profits to be Donated to Haiti Relief Efforts

From now until January 22, 100% of profits from purchases made at awebber.mymarkstore.com will be donated to the American Red Cross to support relief and recovery efforts in Haiti.

On January 12, a series of earthquakes measuring 6.5 to 7.3 on the Richter scale devastated Haiti. The American Red Cross is working with its partners in the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network, including the Haitian Red Cross, and other partners to assist those affected by this disaster.

Your gift to the American Red Cross will support emergency relief and recovery efforts to help those people affected by the earthquake in Haiti. Assistance provided by the American Red Cross may include sending relief supplies, mobilizing relief workers and providing financial resources and recovery.

Aside from this week (January 15 - January 22), 10% of January bath and body product sales will be donated to a family. Someone has already been chosen for January and February donations, but if you'd like to nominate someone for March donations, please let me know.

Anyone who makes a purchase between now and January 22 will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes. The winner will receive the mark Have a Heart bracelet (otherwise not available until February 2). 100% of net proceeds from this bracelet and mark's other m.powerment products go toward ending domestic abuse.

Thank you so much,

WowWee Alive Lion Cub

a perfect gift for an animal lover

You are a real boy. At least as real as I've ever made one.
- A.I.

A WowWee robotic toy would make a great gift for someone who can't have domesticated (or wild) animals in their house. The "alive" series can sense petting, meow, cry, and make facial expressions that are quite realistic.

Be There

a perfect gift for now

The greatest gift is a portion of thyself.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The holidays are approaching. December 1 is tomorrow. What gifts are you giving to those you care about? Gift cards? Cash? Socks? Why not be there? If you can't buy the plane ticket or take the road trip, at least be with them on the phone, a video chat, or email. Our time is only getting shorter. Carpe diem. Show your love. Enjoy the holiday season, and make sure that your loved ones enjoy it too.
